Catch Up With CK: Things That might Interest You!

1. Why do I think this might interest you? Well, let me share a bit about Bahrain first. Officially known as the Kingdom of Bahrain, it's a beautiful island country nestled in West Asia, right on the shores of the Persian Gulf. Now, here's something fascinating – if Bahrain was approved to treat its first sickle cell disease (SCD) patient with Casgevy, it's a powerful indicator of the growing awareness surrounding SCD. It shows how communities around the world are coming together to support those affected by this condition. Does that mean we should stop talking about it? No!

2. Worthy of note: "Closing these gaps will mean addressing barriers that patients face during the transition. While the reasons why patients might delay switching weren’t evaluated, they may include gaps in insurance coverage, being uncomfortable about a less familiar environment or doctor, and a lack of understanding about the disease and its treatment. “Interventions to prevent gaps in healthcare between pediatric and adult care should be developed and implemented in transition programs,” the researchers wrote."
